Birthday Flowers

Pink Rose Bouquet

It was my birthday yesterday and my husband spoiled me with some beautiful flowers (and many  other gifts which I'll share on here soon).

I feel like I could just look at flowers for hours - how can something so entrancing exist? The softest velvety textures, captivating scent and vivid colours - they're just amazing! If there's someone that says they don't like flowers I don't believe them ha.

Been loving all pastel colours, especially pink and for my nails it is no exception. For this look I used the Leighton Denny nail polish in Rosey Posey, then a glitter polish by nails inc and finally a flower sticker.

Balance Me Rose Otto Hand Cream

Balance Me Rose Otto Hand Cream

A few months back I started using the Balance Me Rose Otto Hand Cream, which came as a freebie with a magazine.

The Balance Me Rose Otto Hand Cream, which claims to be rich moisturising and "velvetifying", all while being 90% natural, with no parabens, sulpahtes, petroleum, mineral oil, silicones, dea, pegs, propylene glycol, artificial fragrances or colours.

As the description says it is quite rich, so it has taken me ages to use it up as I didn't end up reaching for it as often as I would like because I didn't love the greasy feeling it can leave my hands with. For that reason, I mostly use it before going to bed as I won't be needing to use my hands and the grasyness won't matter.

It contains glycerin, shea butter, sweet almond oil, beeswax, kukui seed oil, lanolin, rose flower oils and a series of essential oils including palmarosa, camomile, clary sage, bergamot and ylang ylang.

The scent isn't strong and reminds me of baby products, it might be the palmarosa oil but I can't quite put my finger on it - it's not the typical commercial baby powder scent, but it's a soft, calming scent.

Because of the heavy, rich ingredients, the Balance Me Rose Otto Hand Cream is a hand cream best suited for very dry skin or to use just before bed as the texture isn't ideal to leave on the skin during the day (unless you like leaving hand prints everywhere).

Have you tried this hand cream?

Love, Want, Need

Wrap dress, lanolips lip water, issey miyake rose, ted baker heart bag

Here are a few of the things on my wish-list this month: cute stationery, the perfect satin wrap dress for summer, yet another lip balm (can't ever have too many), silver heart-shaped earrings, a rose face mist, a leather heart shaped bag (another thing you can never have too many of) and a rose perfume. Just some of my obsessions, really: stationery, rose scented, heart shaped and lip moisturising things ha.

Personalised Jewellery at Get Name Necklace

Summer is in full swing and students are graduating from school - for this important milestone a very meaningful gift could be a personalised piece of jewellery, like the ones offered on Get Name Necklace.

As the name of the website suggests, you can get your name on necklace, but there are also many other options available, such as birthstone necklaces, monogram necklaces, tiara rings, photo rings, photo charm bracelets and even personalised earrings.

You can also order your own Get Name Necklace picture necklace, in which you can include a picture of your loved ones and it is a very thoughtful gift to someone or even for yourself so they're always with you.

In the picture above are some of my favourite designs, all of them very feminine and girly, however they have lots more designs on Get Name Necklace. Shown above are a picture locket with a zodiac sign front and engrave-able back, a more simple design of the heart picture necklace with engrave-able back for the minimalists out there, a winged heart picture necklace which reminds me of Sailor Moon, an enamel pink heart picture necklace, and a more detailed and sparkly cubic zirconium engrave-able heart shaped picture necklace. All of them are sterling silver and you can also choose the length of the chain.

If you have any questions you can always reach out and ask anything on the Get Name Necklace Contact us page. Happy shopping!

Nivea Micellar Water for Dry Skin

Nivea Micellar Water for Dry Skin

In the unlikely event that I wear makeup (nowadays rarely do) I'll use a makeup remover to get rid of it at the end of the day, and these past couple of months I've been using the Nivea Micellar Water for Dry Skin.

This product features 'natural almond oil' and claims to be a 3 in 1 cleanser for face and eyes by removing makeup gently without rubbing and caring for lashes, cleansing deeply, and moisturising and soothing the skin.

I don't really use it on my facial skin as much as I do to remove eye makeup, but I do find out that it gently removes makeup and leaves the skin soft. While it does need a couple of swipes to get all my eye makeup off it's something to be expected as it is a gentle cleanser.

What I really like about the Nivea Micellar Water for Dry Skin is that I think my lashes have grown slightly since using it as it contains castor oil, which helps with lash growth. It also contains glycerin and panthenol, ingredients that also soften the skin.

It's easy to use, as most makeup removers, just wet a cotton pad and wipe the skin until clean without the need to rinse it off once finished. Afterwards I like to wipe my lids with some water to get any residue off my skin to avoid it drying out and proceed to apply my eye cream.

I would recommend the Nivea Micellar Water for Dry Skin if you want a quick and easy way to remove face and eye makeup while also caring for your lashes.

L'oreal Fine Flowers Gel-Cream Wash

L'oreal Fine Flowers Gel-Cream Wash review

The L'oreal Fine Flowers Gel-Cream Wash is a cleanser with no soap or alcohol designed for dry and sensitive skin as it cleanses, purifies and softens thanks to the use of rose and jasmine.

This product has a milky gel texture that doesn't lather up too much and leaves skin soft as it cleanses it. Thanks to the use of glycerin, jasmine and rose extracts it soothes and moisturises. It doesn't have a discernible fragrance but that didn't bother me.

What I didn't love about this product is that it didn't deeply cleanse my skin, leaving it feeling like it had product build up over the course of a couple of weeks' use. Also it doesn't have any other properties other than softening the skin and I usually go for cleansers that do more than just that, such as lightly exfoliate, hydrate or even out skin tone and texture. For that reason I wouldn't buy it again, however I would recommend it if you are looking for a simple, moisturising cleanser or have dry skin.

Basket Bag

Topshop Skirt

Bag from SMA // Topshop Skirt // H&M Blouse // Elie Tahari Sunglasses // Topshop Shoes

Love this basket bag that I got in San Miguel de Allende a couple of months ago - I've only been able to use it recently as it kept raining and I didn't want it to get ruined ha. I think it looks great with pretty much any outfit and on any season but you can't get it wet which is the only drawback.

Sample Sessions 02

this works In transit camera close-up and REN evercalm global protection day cream

Welcome to another instalment of Sample Sessions! These samples are quite generous and I've been using for some time so it's not so much a first impression as with the products in my last sample post.

This Works In Transit Camera Close-Up is a primer, moisturiser and mask in one meant to plump, even and brighten the skin instantly. It is a rich, creamy product that glides onto the skin without a greasy or sticky residue. It has a faint fruity or plant scent that doesn't linger. Moisturises very well and also makes skin appear smoother. I really like this product and can definitely feel a difference in the softness at the end of the day when I wash my face.

It features shea butter, argan oil, borage seed oil, caffeine, aloe vera, hyaluronic acid and bitter orange oil. The ingredients have changed a bit since I've had it and now include rose oil and retinol; and seems to include more hyaluronic acid and aloe vera as they appear higher on the ingredient list, which makes it even better in my opinion so I'd love to try the new version too and see how it compares.

REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream is a moisturising cream meant for sensitive skin. Something a bit disappointing is that it has no SPF in the formula so I do have to layer another product on top but I like to use it before my SPF if my skin is feeling a bit tight or dry.

It seems to calm skin and reduce redness, which is great and I also like that some of the first ingredients are camelia seed oil and sesame seed oil, both of which are good for oily and spot prone skin so I don't have to worry about it blocking pores or causing spots. Other great ingredients in this formula include shea butter, sunflower seed oil, cranberry and blackcurrant seed oils, seabuckthorn oil and calendula extract. The scent to me isn't great and reminds me of ham (?) but it doesn't bother me too much to stop using it.

Have you tried either of these products?

Sailor Moon Nails

Sailor Moon Nails

So, I never really kept up with Sailor Moon as I child because I would always miss it for some reason (I did remember the opening and ending songs, Serena, Rini, Tuxedo Mask and what Sailor Moon would say before confronting someone, though) and I finally decided to start watching the whole thing and must say I am obsessed

Needless to say, Sailor Moon was my inspiration for these nails, where I used Maybelline Ceramic Blue nail polish over a base coat, then used some Nails inc glitter on top, added a crescent moon on my thumb nails, finished by a topcoat, et voila.

Did you used to watch Sailor Moon?

Sample Sessions 01

Sampling L'oreal shampoo, Nivea clay shower gel and Rituals sakura body cream. First impressions.

I'm always collecting samples from all over (i.e. magazines and sample giveaways online) which are a great way to try out new products, but then I never really document what I think of them so I've started this new series to follow my first impressions on the new things I've sampled.

Nivea Shower Clay with Ginger & Basil: I wasn't sure if I would like the basil and ginger scent but it actually smells more like lime to me so I really like the refreshing scent it has. It lathers lightly and leaves skin feeling clean and soft.

Rituals Sakura Magic Touch Body Cream: The cream feels quite thick at first but it absorbs quick, it lightly moisturises and leaves skin feeling velvety. I really like the faint cherry scent.

L'Oreal Botanicals Lavender Shampoo: It doesn't lather very much but still manages to leave hair and scalp feeling deeply cleansed. The scent is a bit overpowering but it's imperceptible after you come out of the shower.

Have you tried any of these products?

The Strokes at All Points East

The Strokes at All Points East

On Saturday we went to the All Points East festival in London to see The Strokes. It was the 4th time I'd be seeing them live but I was very excited nonetheless.

We arrived early and watched Parquet Courts, Johnny Marr and The Raconteurs playing on the same stage before The Strokes. I would have liked to see Interpol but they were playing on a different stage and I didn't want to lose my place right at the front.

The Strokes played songs form their first 3 albums only, including my favourite: What Ever Happened. Julian kept forgetting the lyrics and he even said 'you know the lyrics better than I do' ha.

Lots more videos (including The Raconteurs & Johnny Marr) on my Youtube channel.

Natures Alchemist Nourishing Cream Face Mask

Natures Alchemist Nourishing Cream Face Mask

A few months back I purchased the Natures Alchemist Nourishing Cream Face Mask as I was interested in trying probiotics for my skin

It mentions that it has coconut probiotics to soothe, hydrate and restore; and Arctic lingonberry oil to help retain moisture and maintain a healthy glow. It has a strong scent that I can’t describe but it isn’t off-putting.

To use I apply a thin layer all over my face and let it dry for about 10 minutes, then I wipe it off with a damp cotton pad to slightly exfoliate as I remove it. The texture is that of a lightweight moisturising cream, not heavy or greasy.

After using, my skin feels very soft and moisturised thanks to hydrating  glycerin, coconut and lingonberry oils; and soothing bífida ferment lysate. Even though this mask contains kaolin it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight, but cleansed and supple while also less oily which I really like.

I would recommend this product if you are looking for a softening, hydrating mask that also cleanses and reduces oil while being gentle to the skin.

Dr. Pawpaw Tinted Peach Pink Balm

Dr. Pawpaw Tinted Peach Pink Balm

The Dr. Pawpaw Tinted Peach Pink Balm can be used for cheeks, lips and cosmetic finishing. It has a hint of tint and is fragrance free. I found this lip balm in TKMaxx for about £2.99 so I decided to get it as I'd heard good things about this balm.

The colour isn’t peach, more like a coral, plus it can look milky and quite patchy on the lips and I don’t feel like the colour suits me as it is not transparent and is lighter than my natural lip colour.

It seems to moisturise just fine thanks to the olive oil, papaya and aloe extracts, sunflower and soybean oils. One thing I didn’t notice until after I purchased it was that the first ingredient is actually petrolatum, which was a bit disappointing.

Another thing that I don’t love about it is the feeling it has on the lips - almost greasy, plus after a couple of minutes from application, that feeling seeps into the back of my lips and tip of my tongue. So overall not a very pleasant experience with this lip balm and sadly wouldn’t recommend it.

For petroleum based lip balms I prefer the Vaseline Rosy Lips balm over this one: the colour and pigment are just right, plus it moisturises well and smells nice. Oh, and it’s only about 1/3 of the price. Can’t go wrong with that.

Another illustration, this time of a fragrance: the Ghost Daydream perfume, described as a "sparkling wave of citrus and salty freshness on a petally floral heart" with notes of jasmine, violet and tuberose. I haven't had the chance to smell it but the beautiful iridescent bottle caught my eye and had to try and recreate its watercolour version. All Things Pink & Sparkly

Ruby Chocolate Kit Kat

Lierac Paris Lip Balm

Toalla Saba Chococat

Growing up I wasn't the girliest and I definitely did not ever wear pink until few years ago, when my inner girly girl came out and now I love all things pink and sparkly for some reason but I'm not complaining.

So here is a compilation of cute, pink and sparkly things in a flat lay inspired by a pink ruby chocolate Kit Kat which unfortunately I can't eat as it contains milk. Also pictured: the sparkly Lierac lip balm and a Chococat pad.
