The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5

The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5

You might remember from a few weeks back that I compromised my skin barrier by over exfoliating, and in my attempt to repair it, The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5 was one of the products I was looking to try.

The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5 is a "concentrated hydration support formula", and comes in a 30 ml UV protective packaging glass bottle with a dropper.

The formula contains Panthenol (Vitamin B5) plus the following amino acids: Arginine, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Threonine, Valine, Proline, Isoleucine, Lysine HCL, Histidine and Phenylalanine, which in conjunction are meant to help soothe and repair the skin, aid wound healing, increase hydration levels and reduce inflammation.

The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5 is very watery and runny so you have to be careful when dispensing to avoid wasting the product. It does not have any discernible smell to it and the texture is very light, but with a hint of oil that is not at all greasy. It gets absorbed quite fast and can leave a bit of a glow to the skin.

The instructions do mention that it can cause tingling on the skin and if so you might want to mix a few drops into your moisturiser, which is what I have been doing as I think that applied directly onto the skin on its own it does cause some tinging and even redness (which is what I wanted to improve in the first place).

A few moments after applying using my fingers I can also feel some tingling on them, which I assume is the product getting absorbed into the skin (a similar feeling can be expected when using transdermal magnesium products).

After using the skin is left with a faint but healthy glow and it feels much softer, however as I mentioned it can cause some tingling and even redness so I will reserve this product (mostly) to be mixed with my night cream when I want an extra moisture boost.

It is very affordable so I will continue to use and if ceases to cause any tingling and redness then will probably repurchase, if not, I am ready to explore other serums which also contain amino acids and other actives in one formula.

NEW ORLEANS' KATRINA : History and Law of Yesteryear in Force Today

*This is a sponsored post.NEW ORLEANS' KATRINA : History and Law of Yesteryear in Force Today

In 2005 Huricane Katrina devastated the City of New Orleans. The survivors of this natural disaster suffered many injustices and were left to their own devices without any electricity, food or water for nearly a week. Some people were preyed on and even killed. Beverly Davis wants to make sure that all of the injustices from that event are never forgotten.

Beverly Davis is a self taught artist and author. The New Orleans native's greatest desire is for the world to know what happened in New Orleans, which is why she has written the book NEW ORLEANS' KATRINA : History and Law of Yesteryear in Force Today.

At the time she began writing her book, Beverly Davis had surgery on her right eye, and four months later she woke up completely blind in that eye. Two years later she was told she needed surgery on her left eye, though the laser treatment left it severely burnt. From then on she experienced pain and discomfort in her remaining working eye.

Despite all of this she was determined to make the New Orleans' survivors stories known, so she continued to research for her book until on June 9th, during her final full length editing she could not longer focus properly with her remaining eye.

Beverly also completed 13 paintings for her The New Orleans Katrina Holocaust series, and feels comfort in the knowledge she has done all she possibly could in contribution to help ensure the world never forgets what happened to the people in the city of New Orleans during and after the flood that followed Hurricane Katrina.

You can support Beverly by buying her book on Amazon and also by pledging on her Kickstarter to help achieve her goal of printing 300-500 first edition copies of her book.

Garnier Organic Lemongrass Detox Gel Wash

Garnier Organic Lemongrass Detox Gel Wash

A few weeks ago I actually wrote my first impressions about the Garnier Organic Lemongrass Detox Gel Wash, however they have changed after using the wash for longer.

This cleanser is designed for normal to combination skin, and contains Organic Lemongrass Essential Oil from Sri Lanka and Organic Cornflower Water, and has no animal derived ingredients or by-products in the formula. The lemongrass gives it a fresh scent that I enjoy but it might not be suitable for sensitive skin types.

As I mentioned before, it is quite hydrating (with sucrose as the 2nd ingredient and glycerin being the 4th ingredient in the list) and doesn't feature any harsh surfactants, opting for coco-betaine and coco-glucoside, known for being milder and less foaming. It also contains salicylic acid (as a preservative, I believe) however it retains antibacterial properties which might be helping in reducing breakouts.

The Garnier Organic Lemongrass Detox Gel Wash cleanses well, leaves my skin feeling soft and never dry or tight, plus it has oil reducing, antioxidant and antibacterial benefits thanks to the use of Lemongrass Essential Oil, as well as anti-inflammatory properties because of the use of Cornflower Water.

I'm nearly halfway through the full sized bottle and I think that it is a product I would purchase again in the future (it's quite affordable too, especially on offer).
