May Magazine Freebies

alesha dixon, ciate, cowshed, free, freebies, jergens, keira knightley, magazine, may, phil smith, rebecca hall

This month there are some great gifts when you purchase May's issues of Marie Claire, InStyle and Cosmopolitan.

With Marie Claire (Keira Knightley on the cover) you get a Ciate nail polish in pink or silver, and a Jergens moisturiser sample. I've already tried the nail polished and loved it!

With InStyle magazine (Rebecca Hall on the cover) you get a a 50 ml sample of Cowshed's slender cow extra firming body butter, which is great to achieve a more toned look on legs and abs now that spring is (sort of) here.

And with Cosmopolitan (Alesha Dixon on the cover) you get a 50 ml sample of Phil Smith Argan Oil Hair Transforming Cream, which helps restore smoothness on dry hair.

There's still a few days until the next issues are available so you can still find these magazine issues at your local shops.

Peter Doherty at the Brixton Jamm

Ever since discovering Peter Doherty and his music I've been a fan, but never thought I would have the opportunity to see him live (only heard about the Libertines quite a few years after the band had dissolved).

Last night I went with my husband to see him for the third time (!) he played a couple of new songs and of course some classics and was great as usual.

Do you like going to concerts?

Influences of the Internet TAG

The lovely Monica from The Total Opposite tagged me so here we go!

Copy and paste THE RULES:
1) You must state this tag was created by Megan at TheBeautyPier.
2) You must tag at least one person to do this. However, the more the merrier!
3) Let the person know you tagged them with a comment on their blog.
4) Title this post 'Influences of the Internet TAG!'
5) Enjoy!

1. Did other blogs convince you to start up your own?
Yes, I enjoyed reading fashion and beauty blogs and that made me want to start my own blog featuring specific things that I'm interested in, not just fashion and beauty related but other stuff like music and food as well.

2. Have you joined a site because someone else in the blogosphere did?
Maybe! I kept hearing about Pinterest everywhere and I was starting to get sick of it but then I had a look around and decided to "join the waiting list", which made me want to be part of it even more, and of course now I love it (2300+ pins to date ha!)

3. Is there a tip/regime you've gotten from the internet that you now use?
To make your lipstick last longer blot and reapply a couple of times.

4. If your favorite YouTube/Blogger personality likes a product, will that make you buy it?
Sometimes, it depend's if I normally use products like that, ie I love to wear eyeliner so if they say certain eyeliner is very good I might try it.

5. What do you look for in a blog that makes you want to follow?
When they have similar interests/taste to mine and also nice quality pictures.

6. Have you ever been deceived by a product that you ordered online? (e.g you thought it would be pink but it was coral)
Once I bought a foundation that turned out too dark for my skin tone!

7. Have promo pictures and press releases given you the impression that a product will be better than it is?
Sure, they normally do that all the time with mascaras and make up, using false lashes and airbrushing the pictures to make them look flawless.

8. Is there a product you could give a 'cult' status for being so good that you discovered through the internet?
I would say the Korres Lip Butters, I recently purchased one and I think it is really good!

9. Is there a product you have tried and hated, but others have loved?
The Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner from Collection: the tip starts to dry up before I've even finished doing one eye! And if I try to draw over it, wipes off what I've just done. Also it melts easily with tears and burns when it gets in your eyes (chopping onions while wearing this eyeliner: bad idea)

10. Is there a Blogger/YouTuber that influences your fashion style? If so, who?
Not specifically, I get influenced by all different people.

11. Is there a Blogger/Youtuber that influences your attitude each day/lifestyle?
Same as the previous question, I get influenced by the positive attitudes from people in general.

12. How much time do you spend on the internet daily?
Hours and hours! I love watching Youtube videos, reading blogs and entering competitions every single day!

I tag Mish Berries, A Little Bit Unique and Your Dulde and anyone who wants to do the tag :)

I hope you found this interesting ;D

Scholl Express Pedi

express pedi, pedicure, review, scholl

With sunnier and warmer days slowly approaching, it is never too soon to start getting your feet ready for the sandal season with some bright nail polish and of course, a pedicure.

Recently I received the new Scholl Express Pedi, which is an electric device developed for the removal of hard skin at home, helping you achieve professional results in just a few minutes. It has a especially designed rolling surface with the texture of a nail file, but coarser to effectively remove hard skin.

To use simply glide it over the affected areas with even and uniform movements under light to medium pressure to exfoliate your feet and remove hard and dry skin.

Don't be put off by the look of it, because it is very gentle and since the skin on feet is 20 times thicker than anywhere else on the body, it isn't painful at all. It is also completely safe to use, as it does not use any sharp blades and features a safety stop, turning the device off if you happen to apply too much pressure on your skin.

If you are looking for an easy and safe way to get soft and beautiful looking feet at home in just a few minutes, I'd recommend the Scholl Express Pedi.

Scholl Express Pedi* available online in Superdrug and Boots for £39.99

Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover
Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

Last month I purchased Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover because I was looking for a new eye makeup remover that didn't need me to scrub on the delicate eye area. I saw this product on sale on the Superdrug website and decided to buy it when I was in town.

The cleanser consists of two phases: an oil one that claims to remove even waterproof mascara and an aqueous phase that protects and cares for the lashes without leaving an oily residue on your skin.
You have to shake the product to mix both parts so you end up with a light blue solution, then soak a cotton pad with it so you can proceed to remove your eye makeup.

What I normally do is hold the cotton pad soaked with the product against my eyes for a few seconds, then gently wipe towards the outer corner of the eye a couple of times. This is generally enough to remove all of my eye makeup, and when it isn't I'll repeat the previous step until it is all gone. It does leave a slightly oily feeling on the skin but that can be solved with a clean cotton pad and some water .

Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover is a really good product: easy to use, affordable and most importantly, it works! No more waking up with panda eyes anymore ;)

You can find it in Superdrug and Boots from £3.29.

David Bowie Exhibition

David Bowie Exhibition

Last Saturday my husband and I went to see the David Bowie Is exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
With the tickets we got a meal deal for the Hard Rock Cafe, so we had a 2 course meal there before heading to the museum.

The exhibition consisted of lots of Bowie's original outfits, including the light blue suit he wore for the Life on Mars? video and the jacket and trousers pictured above, featured in a live performance of Starman.
There was also handwritten lyrics and sheet music for some of his songs; lots of pictures, projections and short films of him. I even spotted the puppet from his Where Are We Now? video.

Of course I had to get some Bowie paraphernalia at the end of the journey so I selected a few postcards with his picture and the handwritten lyrics for Ziggy Stardust on them, as well as pencils, an eraser, a mirror and a magnet with the picture of my favourite Bowie album: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

I obviously loved the exhibition and absolutely recommend it to any David Bowie fan like me ♥ (FYI my blog's name comes from a Bowie song).

David Bowie Is exhibition from March 23 to 11 August 2013 at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

New in: March

Shirt: Primark
BaByliss & TRESemme Hair brushes: Boots
Cardigan: H&M
Korres Lip Butter: BeautyExpert.com
Mint Top: H&M
Got2B Salt Spray: Superdrug

Really pleased with last month's buys, especially because they were all on special (except for the Korres Lip Butter and the cardigan but I got 20% off with Glamour magazine). I found both hair brushes in the clearance section of Boots and the Tresemme one was £1.75 and the BaByliss one was £2.50 yay!
I have recently been obsessing over lip balms (really need them in this weather) and looking around in Debenhams found a pack of 2 Burt's Bees tinted lip balms for £4.99, which was cheaper than buying individual ones at £5.99 each.
I was also thinking about getting a salt spray to try something different with my hair for summer/spring and I found the got2b one in Superdrug for £2.55.
Going with the "try something different" theme, I was attracted to the idea of wearing something mint coloured for spring and found the sheer lacy top on the H&M sale for £5 which combines two of my favourite things: H&M and sales haha!

Have you gone shopping recently?
