Prom Dresses for 2015

I know it might be a couple of months away still, but it's never too early to start planning what you will be wearing to prom. At Weddingshe they have hundreds of options at really affordable prices. Here I will share with you a couple of my favourite dresses from their website http://www.weddingshe.com/list/Prom-Dresses-2015-111068.

pink prom dress white prom dress

The dress on the left comes in a lovely pastel pink colour, perfect for girls who love looking super feminine. It features a fitted bodice with a lace overlay, a sweetheart neckline concealed with nude coloured fabric and thin straps to keep everything in the right place all night. The long tulle layered skirt skims over any problem areas and gives you an hourglass figure thanks to the sash that cinches in at the waist and is decorated with a lovely bow that can be worn on the front or back of the dress.

At WeddingShe they also have celebrity inspired dresses, and the dress on the right is a very similar version of a dress that Olivia Wilde wore to a red carpet event. This dress might look quite simple at first glance but it actually has a lot of little details if you look close enough, which make it very elegant. The dress has a sweetheart neckline that comes to live thanks to a twist in the fabric on the front of the dress, which makes it look pleated, giving it a lovely texture. It also has a sash at the waist to keep you looking a nice shape. The back features a v shape with more texture and your shoulders remain covered with beaded cap sleeves.

Recently I received the Barry M Eyeshadow Brush as part of a Beauty Product Testing programme.
I had actually never tried Barry M products before, even though I am interested in giving the nail polishes a try.

My first impression of the product was that the packaging and colours are very feminine - all white with pink and black accents. When I took the brush out of the bag I was surprised at how light it is, and then I tried it on the back of my hand to find it is very soft.

On the packaging it mentions that Barry M's make-up brushes are synthetic and animal friendly, guaranteeing you a high-performance, super soft product to create a flawless look, and it recommends that you use this particular brush to pack on eye shadow colour.

Indeed the Barry M Eyeshadow Brush feels soft on the eyelids and helps apply colour well, it's also very easy to handle thanks to the lightness of the materials. And also since it's so affordable, I would recommend it as you can't go wrong for £2.99.

All Used Up #8

st ives gentle scrub, batiste, nivea pure & natural, olay body wash, aveeno positively radiant.

The latest batch of finished products!

St. Ives Gentle Apricot Scrub: This one's not completely finished but it's quite old so I got a new one. It's a very moisturising and softening scrub that I quite like and would recommend for more dry or sensitive skin.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Wild: I like the scent of this version, quite handy to revive day old hair and absorb some of the oil, though towards the end of the can it can leave a white residue on the hair. I would like to try alternative dry shampoo brands.

Palmolive Naturals Black Orchid Shower Milk: This shower milk smells amazing, lathers well and also leaves skin soft, as well as being affordable. Definitely recommend and would buy again.

Nivea Pure & Natural Regenerating Night Cream: This cream is quite light and absorbs quickly, it's also hydrates well and doesn't feel heavy on my oily skin. Love it and would buy again.

The Beauty Parlour Mattifying Papers: This is a brand that used to be sold at Superdrug but can't find it anymore. These mattifying papers were ok, quite thin but firm and absorbed oil well.

Olay Total Effects Body Advanced Anti-Aging Wash: This was a mini from a set that was gifted to me, it lathers only a little bit, though it is creamy and moisturises very well, leaving skin soft. Would buy again.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Serum: This serum is not as light as others I've tried, it has more of a lotion texture but does hydrate the skin. I think it helped a bit with texture but not so much with improving skin tone.

Have you tried any of these products?

Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Balm in Super Strawberry

Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Balm in Super Strawberry

You probably have heard or even tried Clinique Chubby Sticks before, as I think they're the ones that started the lip crayon craze a couple of years ago. Shockingly this is my first one, which I got free with a magazine purchase recently.

Clinique Chubby Sticks promise to be super nourishing and leave lips smooth and soft thanks to mango and shea butters, as well as leaving a tint and subtle sheen on the lips.

After trying Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Balm in Super Strawberry, I can agree that it moisturises my lips quite well and I like the sheer colour it provides, as I'm not the biggest lipstick fan. What I don't like about it is that it smells like an actual colouring crayon - waxy and not very appealing. I know it's meant to be a brand that caters for sensitive skin but they could at least try to mask that cheap crayon smell. Also I don't like that the packaging is a bit misleading because the tube is not full to the base with product, which makes the £17 price tag too expensive for my liking. For said reasons I wouldn't actually purchase it, as there are much more affordable tinted lip balm options on the market.

University Choices & Giveaway with the University of Greenwich

university of greenwich

This month hundreds of young people are going to have to make one of their most important decisions: what university to go to. It can be a very hard decision as there is so much information out there.

Personally I knew I wanted to go into Architecture since I was younger, but the choice wasn't too hard for me, as my high school was part of the same university system I attended, so I had an automatic pass and was lucky enough to obtain a good scholarship. Even though some of my friends went into the same university, none of them went into the same field so I didn't have many friends at first but soon met lots of people. Also as it was in the neighbouring city, I stayed at home during my studies and could get to my university by public transport.

When you are selecting your home away from home for the next few years you want to consider a university that offers the courses that you are definitely interested in taking - it's not worth enrolling for a degree you don't like as this is your life choice and what you will most probably spend your time doing after you graduate.

Also look for any extra curricular activities that might interest you, such as book clubs, sports clubs or any other kind of activity that you enjoy and where you can meet people with similar interests to yours.

If your choice is far from home, make sure that you know and like where you will be staying, be it student dorms or a shared flat and that if it's the latter, that you live in a neighbouring area to the university for easier access. And also consider distance from your home in case you want to visit your family on holidays or long weekends.

Something that might make you reconsider your choice is if your friends are going as well, and while it might be scary starting over and knowing no-one, this shouldn't be a definitive factor on your choice of university or career.

Rather than worrying about where your friends are going, take a look at the university's environment, is it a big university that's diverse, fast paced and has lots of choice or is it a smaller one or college where most people are familiar with each other?

And last but not least consider your financial options: do you have the possibility of obtaining a scholarship that will alleviate your payments or do you need to take out a loan and how will you be paying it back?

Kiss FM presenter AJ went to the University of Greenwich to show potential students under the skin of the university and what you can get up to in their faculties. As you might know, taking your pick can be a difficult task, which is why initiatives like these are a great way to discover what a uni is really like. Remember to visit The KISS University Takeover page for the chance to win a bundle of start of term prizes, including an iPad mini here.

As starting university is a big step in your life and it should be celebrated, I'm giving away a £10 Arcadia voucher, which you can spend in Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Burtons, BHS, Evans, Topman or Outfit.

Simple Soothing Shower Cream & Bath Milk

Simple Soothing Shower Cream & Bath Milk

Recently I found a couple of vouchers in the Tesco magazine for Simple products and decided to use them to get the Simple Soothing Shower Cream & Bath Milk as when I pick out bath and shower products I try to make sure that they're creamy, moisturising and have nourishing properties and ingredients.

Both the Simple Soothing Shower Cream & Bath Milk contain Aloe Vera and Rosemary extracts, and are very creamy, especially the shower one (it retains the shape of the nozzle thing as you get the product out for a couple of seconds! ha). The shower cream lathers well and skin feels clean and soft after use, however the scent of rosemary is so overpowering that I don't enjoy using it. The bath milk produces a moderate amount of foam but indeed leaves skin feeling clean and soft and the rosemary scent doesn't seem as strong on this product.

Overall, they're good shower and bath products though if you're not a fan of rosemary I'd stay away from these. I'd love to try other products from this range and I'll make sure to sniff them before going through the checkout!

Wedding Dresses for 2015

With every new year, come new beginnings and the start of something exciting, such as planning a wedding. Of course one of the most important things about it is finding the dress for you, so here are a few options from WeddingShe, as they have the latest bridal dresses for weddings on 2015, that I want to share with you:

Champagne lace wedding dresses are always in style and the dress on the left has a very romantic vibe, thanks to the lace overlay fabric that covers the whole dress, as well as becoming the train. It features a V-neck on the front and a deep v cleavage on the back, a small bow on the gathering of lace train fabric just below it. It also has lots of sparkle with the embellishments on the shoulders and under the bust, to enhance the silhouette.

If you prefer something more simple, yet still completely beautiful, then the dress on the right if for you. It features a square neckline that's lower on the back, with medium straps, as well as delicate button details all the way down the posterior of the dress. Fitted on the top and very voluminous on the bottom, with a small train and a bow on the front at the waist as a feminine finishing touch.

lace and tulle wedding dress satin slit skirt wedding dress
For a civil ceremony or your reception dress, these are a bit more adventurous. The left one has an all over pink tone to it, which I love. It is fitted on top with a lower v neck and a fully covered back no sleeves. The bodice is completely covered in a lacey texture overlay, which fades towards the tulle skirt.

The dress on the right is definitely the most revealing of all these options but I think it would be a great choice for a reception party in the evening. It has a delicate lace and beaded camisole style bodice that's not fitted, however it has a deep v on the back, finished with a contrasting peach bow on the lower back. The satin skirt shows some leg with a mid thigh slit.

korres hand cream
beauticology macarons
how to be parisian, super smash bros wii u, la petite robe noir

Last month I got a new bag by Rowallan and a shadow quad by Revlon, both at TK Maxx. Then for Christmas I received lots of lovely things like new pjs, nail polishes, a Korres hand cream, macarons, shower products including Dove, Beauticology and Nivea, the book How to be Parisian, Super Smash Bros Wii U, La Petite Robe Noir EDP, Uniqlo Ultra Light Down jacket and H&M Cashmere scarf.

In the sales I managed to find the little Topshop cross-body leather bag I had my eye on for months. Also found some washi tape in The Works and inspired by my lunch at Pret with my cousin last month, got some peach flavoured green tea to drink at home. The little gingerbread house was a gift for my husband but we decorated it together and I though it was cute so I had to include a picture of it haha (it also was delicious!)

John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo + Conditioners

John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo + Conditioners

A few months back, I received the whole John Frieda Full Repair collection (with the exception of 1 or 2 pieces) in the post. Being the hair care fan that I am, of course I was excited to give them a try.

The John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo*, Conditioner* and Deep Conditioner* are aimed at dry, damaged hair and claim to replenish moisture with every use, without weighing hair down, thanks to the Inca Inchi Oil.

The scent of these products is quite nice, slightly sweet but not sickly nor cheap, and they are all very creamy and moisturising. I find that after shampooing my hair is soft, but the conditioner makes it feel softer and I use the deep conditioner once a week, which makes my hair -you guessed it- even softer. And I find that these products really don't weight my hair down, but give it a tiny bit of volume.

So if you are looking for softer hair without having to spend too much money, I would recommend to check out this line. Find it at Boots and Superdrug.

Have you tried John Frieda products?
