White Ruffles & Roses

Pictures with my birthday outfit from a couple of years ago, I always postponed uploading them but now seemed like a good occasion as it is Valentine's Day this weekend.

Wearing a Dresslily top* (Similar white strappy top) - I really like all the romantic details on this top: the ruffles, shirring, embroidery and lace up front, and the flowers were a gift from my husband.

Have a lovely Valentine's Day!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2021 stationery

Wishing you a very Happy New Year, full of love, fun and prosperity. In some ways this year felt quite long and dull but looking back it also feels like it went by very quick (or is it just me?). Anyway, goodbye 2020 and may better things come your way!

Christmas Cactus & Other News

Schlumbergera hybrid Christmas Cactus

Yesterday I got gifted a new plant: a Schlumbergera hybrid or Christmas Cactus. It has that name as it flowers during the winter.

On other news I finished my latest watercolour painting, which you might have already seen in my Instagram stories. Also I hope to be styling a new outfit post soon (probably this week). Oh, and I made Master Ball tier in the Pokemon VGC last week within only 3 days and I'm around the top 1000 best players in the world for this month, which is the fastest and furthest I've ever been, yay! haha.

Easter 2020

rabbit planter with kalanchoe

Hope you had a nice Easter weekend. These are the gifts I received this year: a chocolate egg, a Lindt 90% cacao and Tesco Orange Chocolate bars, as well as a rabbit planter with a yellow kalanchoe.

In Mexico, a mainly catholic country, Easter is celebrated by going to church for mass and before that people have Lent or a 40 day red meat fast, however as we weren't that religious growing up we rarely did any of that (except for the period of our lives when we went to a religious school and were made to attend mass, amongst other activities, ha!).

So even though I knew about the Easter bunny and chocolate eggs, I hadn't actually received or eaten one before I moved to the UK.

How do you celebrate Easter?

Meet Me In China Town

Meet Me In China Town London England

For some reason I just love this photograph I took in China Town when we went to see the Christmas Lights in London in December 2017.

The glowing neon lights and the contrast of the Chinese writing in the middle, plus the colouring and depth of field are something that really caught my attention. That and the fact that the busker started playing Space Oddity as I turned around the corner to this sight, it's like that's the place I was meant to be at that exact moment ha.

You can find this photo to purchase on prints, homeware, stationery and t-shirts on my Red Bubble shop.

Life Lessons

What makes people think that when treating someone consistently a certain way that they do not like  to be treated they'll never grow resentful or reach breaking point and snap back?

Probably the story of my life: always letting people walk all over me, laugh at me, treat me disrespectfully. I've taken a lot of that, which is my own fault, really. But every time I get to the point where I will not allow it any more, suddenly I'm the horrible one.

This is the way that some people like to take advantage of others they see as weak - I've felt small and scared in many situations, letting people dictate my actions or bully me - it dates all the way back from primary school, through secondary and even my high school years.

It finally stopped in university but it wasn't for good: at one of my first jobs here in the UK I was also bullied by a colleague around 7 years younger than me. And I let them carry on with it, so it got progressively worse until I got falsely accused of something very serious at work, which is when I decided it was time to report their abuse and make it stop.

That's what I've learned over the years: I have allowed things like that to happen out of fear of speaking up. I've always been "a good girl" that just does what she's told, afraid of what could happen if I don't, when everyone else gets away with pretty much anything you can think of - even the things I get wrongly accused of doing.

One of my general "rules" in life is to treat people the way they treat me, it's what I've done since I can remember. How I treat people I get along with (family, friends, classmates, co-workers, etc) is what I believe to be a reflection of their treatment towards me.

Granted, I never mentioned I was perfect, however if someone thinks I have turned into a despicable version of what I used to be, they should have a think about how they treated me in the past. They might realise that they prefer me weak, quiet and submissive so they can bring me down but they need to know that I am not condoning this type of behaviour anymore.

I took this picture a couple of months ago (in September to be exact) of a hypnotising passionflower from the garden out the back of the house. Birthday Flowers

Pink Rose Bouquet

It was my birthday yesterday and my husband spoiled me with some beautiful flowers (and many  other gifts which I'll share on here soon).

I feel like I could just look at flowers for hours - how can something so entrancing exist? The softest velvety textures, captivating scent and vivid colours - they're just amazing! If there's someone that says they don't like flowers I don't believe them ha.
