Even though it's already spring, it hasn't been that warm yet (it actually snowed today, though I missed it as I was in the shower ha!). Dupe of the Day: La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C10 Serum

Dupe of the Day: La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C10 Serum

You know how I am a big fan of affordable skincare, so today I am bringing you a dupe for a popular Vitamin C serum.

The La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C 10 Serum contains, as the name suggests, 10% Vitamin C in the form of Ascorbic Acid. It also contains salicylic acid to help further brighten while exfoliating, plus neurosensine, which is a soothing peptide to prevent irritation from the active ingredients.

The Garnier Vitamin C Brightening Serum contains a more stable 3.5% vitamin C derivative in the form of 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, plus a couple of brightening citrus extracts. It also includes salicylic acid, just like the LRP version, however instead of neurosensine it uses Niacinamide, know for its soothing and brightening properties.

Both products are owned by L'Oréal but one retails for £38 and the other £12, which is  less than 1/3 of the La Roche-Posay one.

Have you tried any of these serums?

Top 3 Skincare Trend Predictions

Top 3 Skincare Trend Predictions

After a couple of years going hardcore on high strength active ingredients and over exfoliating which damaged many skin barriers (including mine), the future of skincare is looking less harsh and much more soothing, so here are my top 3 Skincare Trend Predictions for the foreseeable future:

1. Ceramides: after all that exfoliating we need to bring back nourishment to the skin.

2. Probiotics: a gentle and non-drying way of dealing with breakouts is balancing the microbiome.

3. Low strength active ingredients: prepare to see lower percentages of actives and kinder exfoliants such as PHA everywhere!

If you are looking to try out any of these trends (which I'm loving!), then here are a couple of products that are also on my wishlist:

Naturally Radiant Glow Facial Tonic: with probiotics plus Gluconolactone to gently exfoliate.

BYOMA Clarifying Serum: with ceramides and PHA to prevent breakouts without drying.

Vichy Normaderm Probio-BHA Serum: contains probiotics and a 5% combination of AHA and BHA.

Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser: with ceramides and niacinamide to avoid drying the skin out.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Fluide: this new formula now has soothing probiotics.

Will you be trying out any of these ingredients?

Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum

Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum

Near the end of January I was kindly sent the new Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum, which is the newest release by Lancôme and is designed in a triple chamber bottle to maintain each formula fresh until application.

The components of the Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum are Hyaluronic acid to help plump the skin, Vitamin C + Niacinamide to brighten and reduce pigmentation; and Ferulic Acid, an antioxidant to reduce free radical damage.

After having tried this serum for 8 weeks (using it morning and night during the first 4) I feel confident enough to write about it.

The main benefits mentioned on the Lancôme website are that skin feels and looks firmer, plus the look of wrinkles and dark spots appear reduced.

While I don't suffer from deep wrinkles or lack of firmness to my skin, I do have some pigmentation, including a dark spot and did notice that it was reduced. It does help moisturise the skin and leaves it feeling very soft, which I liked. It also helped improved the look of texture on my skin and reduced redness significantly. However, these last two effects were not permanent and continuous use is needed to maintain them.

What I didn't love about the Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum was that it is strongly scented, although I got used with time but this might be off-putting for some. Also the packaging is plastic, which is disappointing considering the price of the serum and that the Genifique ones from the same brand come in glass bottles.

While the bottle is designed to maintain the freshness of the formula, I felt that having to mix it myself using my fingers might not be as efficacious as a formula that comes already integrated, which could lead to patchy application of active ingredients in some areas.

All in all, it is a good serum that can help improve the look of texture, redness and pigmentation. While I do feel like there are many alternatives out there that won't break the bank, if you are looking to treat yourself or a special someone then this would be an option to consider.

Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser

Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser

A couple of months ago I purchased the Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser, motivated by the dry and tight skin feeling I have been experiencing as of late.

The Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser contains Niacinamide and Ceramides and is designed to gently cleanse while hydrating the skin, leaving it smoother and softer. It is suitable for normal to dry skin, and can be used daily on face and body.

This cleanser is very easy to use, just dispense a small amount and massage it onto wet skin, then rinse off with warm water. The Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser does not lather but after rinsing my skin does feel clean and soft; it has a cream consistency and is perfume free, however the smell of it reminded me of ballpoint pen ink when I first started using it.

As you only need a small amount it will last a really long time - I've been using it for nearly 2 months, morning and night and have only used less than 1/3 of the product.

I would definitely recommend the Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser if you are looking for a non-foaming cleanser with ceramides that won't dry skin out and is also affordable.

Find the Me+ Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser at Superdrug.

The Magic of Tarot

Bellapierre Complexion set

Disney pjs

Free samples: CeraVe, Juicy Couture, Lancome, Clinique

We are already on the third month of the year and it feels like it was Christmas just a few weeks ago!

Last month I received a couple of serums including the La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 and Vichy Mineral 89. From The Works I bought The Magic of Tarot, and from TKMaxx I got the Bellapierre Best in Complexion Kit. My in-laws kindly gifted me a new pair of Disney pjs.

There was also a couple of samples that I got last month: the CeraVe Moisturising Cream, Clinique Serum Foundation, Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Neon perfume, and 2 mini Lancôme Advanced Genifique Serums.

In February I also got spoiled by Dotcito on Valentines Day; received a couple of John Frieda products;  was lucky enough to win not one, but two giveaways: one by Beauty Kick and one by YesStyle Influencers which I will share soon.

And last but not least, I placed a new order on YesStyle (which just arrived yesterday) but includes another item I won in a another giveaway!

Did you get anything nice last month?

Dupe of the Day: SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Cleanser

Dupe of the Day: SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Cleanser

I have been thinking about featuring a new section on the blog where I share dupes for popular or higher end skincare products. I do love a bargain and believe that most of the time it's not necessary to spend a lot of money for a product that will achieve results as good as an expensive one.

Recently I was made aware that a new L'Oréal product has pretty much the same ingredients as the SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Cleanser.

L'Oréal Paris recently launched a glycolic acid range, including a 3.5% Glycolic Acid Cleanser, which has an almost identical formula to the SkinCeuticals version:

L’Oreal Paris 3.5% Glycolic Acid Cleanser
Aqua / Water, Coco-betaine, Propylene Glycol, Peg-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Triethanolamine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Disteareth-100 Ipdi, Parfum / Fragrance, Salicylic Acid, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Menthol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Disodium Edta, Linalool, Steareth-100, Citronellol, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate (f.i.l. C274108/1).

Blemish + Age Cleanser
Aqua/Water, Coco-Betaine, Propylene Glycol, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Triethanolamine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Disteareth-100 IPDI, Phenoxyethanol, Salicylic Acid, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Menthol, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Steareth-100, FIL D42553/1

The main difference seems to be that the L'Oréal Paris cleanser contains Aloe Leaf Juice and the SkinCeuticals one has no perfume and uses parabens as preservatives.

Back in December I bought this new pair of boots from Hotter, which even though they do have a bit of a heel, they're actually very comfortable. I love the snakeskin effect and the neutral colourway means they go with pretty much anything. The Uniqlo jumper was a Christmas gift from Dotcito and the coat I got for my birthday last year.

BYOMA Skincare for a Healthy Barrier

BYOMA Skincare for a Healthy Barrier

Recently the boom of skincare with actives in high concentrations has lead to impaired skin barriers (read redness, dryness and irritation) on many people, including myself! Cue the rise of gentle and repairing skincare, which I predict will become very popular this year.

A couple of days ago I found out about this new skincare brand called Byoma, which aims to boost the skin's barrier to achieve balanced and brighter skin without the use of stripping, high-strength actives and repair any damage done by said actives.

All of the Byoma products contain a proprietary Tri-Ceramide Complex with the 3-1-1 golden ratio of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids, which is key to optimum barrier repair; plus other ingredients such as Niacinamide, PHA, Green Tea, Liquorice and Probiotics for extra soothing properties and a healthy glow.

Above are the products I would love to try from Byoma, including the Creamy Jelly Cleanser, Balancing Face Mist, Clarifying Serum, Moisturising Gel Cream, or even the So Clear Set for a start.

New John Frieda Haircare: Overnight Miracles Hair Lotion & Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum

New John Frieda Haircare: Overnight Miracles Hair Lotion

New John Frieda Haircare: Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum

Last week I received a couple of new releases by John Frieda, including the Overnight Miracles Repair & Renew Hair Lotion and the Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum. Both products are designed for medium to thick and coarse hair.

The Overnight Miracles Hair Lotion promises to deeply nourish and smooth split ends. It is also lightly scented with a soothing lavender and sandalwood fragrance. At first I was nervous about the scent being too strong or disliking it and then having to go to bed and smelling it all night long, but it is a very light and pleasant fragrance that doesn't linger on the hair for too long.

It is meant to be used nightly as part of your relaxation and self care routine, and you only need a small amount. It can be used on wet or dry hair, and doesn't need rinsing off in the morning. When I applied it I noticed that it made my hair feel very soft and smooth instantly, and the effect was still noticeable the following day.

The main ingredients are silicones and conditioners such as cetearyl alcohol and behentrimonium chloride. It also contains sunflower seed extract. I see myself repurchasing this product and would recommend it if you are looking for a softening hair lotion to use at bedtime. If your hair is fine or thin, there is also an Overnight Miracles Hair Mist available.

The Frizz Ease All in 1 Extra Strength Serum can also be used on wet and dry hair and is John Frieda's "iconic multitasker": as it is designed to tame frizz, protect from heat & humidity and add shine.

This serum has a very light texture, and a fresh scent reminiscent of shampoo. It contains argan, coconut and moringa oils, as well as vitamin E; however, the main ingredients in it are silicones (dimethicone and dimethiconol).

To use on wet hair you need only one pump, however for dry hair you need an even smaller amount. I really like the scent, the fact that it comes in a pump bottle and also the size of the product as it makes it very travel friendly.

When I used the Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum on wet hair, it did tame it quite well but not completely (my hair gets very frizzy after washing), however the following day I did notice my hair being smoother and softer, which I really liked. The fact that it also works as a heat protectant makes it a versatile product and I would probably repurchase it.

Spring Shapewear at Sculptshe

Spring is just around the corner and with that the beginning of wedding season. While the idea of dressing up for a special event sounds very exciting, sometimes there may be areas we would like to improve or conceal in order to help us look and feel our best, which is where Sculptshe comes in.

Sculptshe is an online destination with a focus on women's shapewear and activewear. They manufacture high quality garments including shapewear, bodysuits, waist trainers and activewear. With a mission to help achieve a stunning silhouette for every woman, Sculptshe wants to make women feel empowered to be confident by providing great quality shapewear that enhances women's natural beauty.

There are two designs that I will be featuring on the blog today, and the first one is the Sculptshe Adjustable Straps Tummy Control Thong Bodysuit, pictured above on the left. This thong shapewear bodysuit features a simple but elegant crossover v-neck design with adjustable straps, which are convertible so it can be worn two ways around the back. This design features moisture-wicking fabric for comfort and breathability. This Sculptshe bodysuit can be worn under other garments or on its own, teamed with some high waisted jeans and sculptural sandals for a cute spring/summer look. Available in black and nude colours.

On the right side we have the Sculptshe Side Zipper Lace Hem Body Shaper, which is part of the Sculptshe side zipper shapewear collection. If you are looking for a garment that will help shape hips, waist and thighs then this one is for you. It features a discreet lateral zipper, inner hooks for easy adjusting and removable straps (which are adjustable as well) and it is ideal for daily use, post surgery and postpartum. This body shaper will slim the waist and thighs, provide all-over compression and give the appearance of a lifted and rounded back side for a more voluptuous silhouette and it can also be worn with jeans, skirts or fitted dresses. Just like the bodysuit, this shaper is also available in both black and nude versions.

If you are looking for shapewear solutions that adapt to your individual needs for the upcoming wedding season, do have a look on the Sculptshe website to discover their wide rainge of products, available also in plus sizes.

Last month Dot got me a new pair of The Simpsons pjs/loungewear and a set of The Simpsons socks. He also got me a mini Chucky collectible model (not pictured).

Last month I was kindly sent a few products to try out and review, including the Lush CBD Massage Bar, the new L'Oréal 5% Glycolic Acid Toner, Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum and the B. Melting Cleansing Balm. And I got the Nails Inc Base Coat for free with a magazine.

Last month I also won a YesStyle giveaway, plus an Etude House Giveaway which I'll write about soon.

We went to Braintree to do a bit of shopping and I got a pair of jeans and a printed blouse from a Gant sample sale; and from Vinted I got a vintage sheepskin jacket which is the warmest thing ever! I don't even need to wear thermals or my down jacket underneath. It is quite heavy so I took only a detail shot but will do an outfit post with it soon.

All Used Up #13

All Used Up

Welcome to the 13th instalment of the All Used Up series, where I share my final thoughts on my finished products.

Avon Senses Gingerbread Shower Creme: great value shower cream, smells amazing and the spicy scent lingers for a while after showering. It also leaves skin feeling very soft. Would definitely repurchase but I believe it is a limited edition :(

Dove Relaxing Body Wash: a skin softening body wash that gently cleanses the skin without leaving it dry or tight. The scent is a light floral and creamy one, which I like. Would have it again.

Vitamin E Body Cream with Moonstone Extract: got this a couple of birthdays ago when I was still very much into crystals as I thought that skincare infused with Moonstone was really cool. Even though it is a cream, it doesn't feel heavy or sticky, it just absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves it very soft. Full review here. Would repurchase but it was a limited edition :(

Sanex Dermo Sensitive Anti Perspirant: one of the very few deodorants that actually work for me. This one isn't drying, has a light powdery scent and is alcohol free.

Olay Lightweight Day Lotion Normal/Oily SPF 15: this light moisturiser is very affordable so it is a staple in my skincare bag. This version for oily skin is scented which I found overpowering after using the unscented Sensitive skin version for about a year. Would probably repurchase but I enjoy the unscented version more at the moment.

Naturally Radiant Glow Serum and Moisturiser: a 2 in 1 product with a lotion texture that lightly moisturises the skin. With probiotics to rebalance and soothe. Good option to help prevent breakouts without drying the skin out. Full review here

Cogerie Paris Facial Cleansing Foam: a very gentle cleanser with probiotics that leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. Lightly hydrates and soothes. Love the fresh floral scent, it somehow reminds me of a Princess Peach Bubble Bath I used to have in the 90s! Full review here.

Garnier Micellar Rose Water: cleanses and removes makeup well. Leaves skin feeling soft. The scent is not my favourite but it is good value so would probably buy again. Full review here.

SNP Prep Peptaronic Cream

A couple of weeks ago I received the SNP Prep Peptaronic Cream, kindly sent to me by YesStyle.

The Peptaronic Cream is designed to lock in moisture and vitalise the skin for a healthier look, and to achieve this, it contains 5 types of hyaluronic acid and 6 types of peptides.

The hyaluronic and peptide components are Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate; Copper Tripeptide-1, Hexapeptide-11, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Tripeptide-1 and Hexapeptide-9.Other notable ingredients in the formula are Glycerin, Niacinamide, Arginine, Panthenol, Macadamia Seed Oil, Adenosine, Beta Glucan and Tocopherol.

The Peptaronic Cream has a really lightweight consistency that just melts into the skin almost instantly, it also features a light fragrance of fresh roses, which I really like. It felt very hydrating and refreshing on the skin and I can't wait to see what the peptides in the cream will achieve with continued use.

5 Winter Must Haves To Invest In Now

5 Winter Must Haves 2022

Yes, it is now February but we are only just over 1/3 through winter so there's still plenty of chance to dress warm for the current season and invest in a couple of pieces that will last for years to come. My top 5 winter investment must haves are:

A sheepskin coat or jacket: super warm and timeless. Definitely an investment or you can always go the vintage route and find a bargain!

A snakeskin or crocodile tan bag: the texture adds interest and the shade keeps it classic, plus it can be worn year round.

A pair of leather boots: can't decide between black Chelsea boots or brown block heel ones, however both are incredibly versatile.

A pair of bootcut jeans: to be able to stylishly wear those new leather boots!

A cashmere piece: be it a scarf, cardigan or jumper - nothing beats cashmere for warmth and softness. If your budget won't allow it, then a mohair piece is always a great alternative.

Do you own any of these pieces?

SNP Peptaronic Cream

Last month I won a YesStyle Giveaway and received the Numbuzin No.3 Skin Softening Serum, which is a texture care serum with galactomyces and bifida ferments.

As the gift included free delivery I also requested one of the Influencer Program sponsored products of the month, and chose the SNP Peptaronic Cream, which combines 6 types of peptides and 5 types of hyaluronic acid to help moisturise and vitalise the skin.

They didn't have any free samples with the purchase of skincare products so decided to go for some stationery to use up some points that were about to expire. I picked the cutest animal Masking Tape from Miumi, which features an adorable bear and bunny couple.

Sadly the free gift of the day had run out so it turned out to be a very tiny haul this time, but hopefully next time it will be bigger.
