I received the Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit to test and review.
This set comes with a curling rod, 2 scrunchies and a claw clip. To use just place the rod over the head and secure with the clip, then proceed to twist the hair around the rod away from the face on both sides, secure with the scrunchies at the bottom and remove the clip.
Ideally it should be left on for a couple of hours or overnight for best results.
I used it on damp hair which is what is recommended and my hair looked very frizzy afterwards (which it normally does after I wash it anyway) so using this kit will not help prevent it.
As I've never used a heatless curling kit before I found it a bit hard to wrap my hair around the rod as when taking a new section the previous one would be falling out. My hair is quite straight too so the top sections were sliding out after a while which led to a softer wave instead of curls.
After around 3 hours I removed the rod and even though it was my first time using the Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit and wasn't expecting great results, I was still happy with how my hair turned out: nice volume and soft curls with some waves too.
I did not apply any styling product afterwards so the curls didn't last very long but they can be easily made to last longer by using some hairspray.
The only thing I didn't love is that as all my hair weight was concentrated on a small section pressing at the top of my head it did end up giving me a mild headache.
The rod is flat at the top so it would also be nice to see a version that isn't to be able to wrap the top section of the hair around the centre of it. Adding some texture while keeping the same satin fabric on the rod could also help hair stay in place while wrapping it around.
Overall it is a nice way to achieve curls or waves without applying any heat on the hair (and without using electricity either).
Find the Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit online.
