Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit

Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit

Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit

I received the Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit to test and review.

This set comes with a curling rod, 2 scrunchies and a claw clip. To use just place the rod over the head and secure with the clip, then proceed to twist the hair around the rod away from the face on both sides, secure with the scrunchies at the bottom and remove the clip.

Ideally it should be left on for a couple of hours or overnight for best results.

I used it on damp hair which is what is recommended and my hair looked very frizzy afterwards (which it normally does after I wash it anyway) so using this kit will not help prevent it.

As I've never used a heatless curling kit before I found it a bit hard to wrap my hair around the rod as when taking a new section the previous one would be falling out. My hair is quite straight too so the top sections were sliding out after a while which led to a softer wave instead of curls.

After around 3 hours I removed the rod and even though it was my first time using the Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit and wasn't expecting great results, I was still happy with how my hair turned out: nice volume and soft curls with some waves too.

I did not apply any styling product afterwards so the curls didn't last very long but they can be easily made to last longer by using some hairspray.

The only thing I didn't love is that as all my hair weight was concentrated on a small section pressing at the top of my head it did end up giving me a mild headache.

The rod is flat at the top so it would also be nice to see a version that isn't to be able to wrap the top section of the hair around the centre of it. Adding some texture while keeping the same satin fabric on the rod could also help hair stay in place while wrapping it around.

Overall it is a nice way to achieve curls or waves without applying any heat on the hair (and without using electricity either).

Find the Superdrug Heatless Curling Kit online.

All Used Up #23

All Used Up #23

All Used Up #23

Welcome to a new instalment of the All Used Up series, the biggest one in a while! Clockwise from top left:

Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule*: it is made from 100% Centella Asiatica Extract and it is designed to calm and hydrate the skin. The consisntency is very watery so it can be hard to avoid it running down your hands as you dispense it. This ampoule has no discernible smell and absorbs easily, leaving skin hydrated while soothing and reducing some redness. While there is nothing wrong with this product it's not one I would rush out to repurchase as it is quite basic and I like my serums to do more than just hydrate and soothe.

Nivea Rose & Almond Oil Care Shower: it has a sweet scent reminiscent of some sort of candy which I like but can be a bit cloying at times. Cleanses well and leaves skin very soft without drying it out or irritating it in the slightest. Would use it again.

Nacific Sun Essence UV Protection*: described as a "hydrating sun cream with a light texture", this sunscreen has a verified SPF50+ PA++++. It is very lightweight and melts into the skin beautifully, leaving no white cast or greasy feeling. It also smells of delicious candied oranges. I've only just used it up and am already missing it. Sometimes when trying a product I've never heard about I don't think much of it but this Sun Essence is one I would definitely repurchase. Full review here

3INA The 24H Pen Eyeliner in 900*: a very long lasting eyeliner pen with inky black pigments. The point is very fine so can create detailed likes but as it is also a bit long it can be a bit hard to control. It is great quality and I would use it again.

INC.redible You Glow Girl Iridescent Jelly in Cosmic Blur: a lightweight highlighter with soft shimmer. Got this for my birthday a couple of years ago and as we weren't going out much my makeup use decreased considerably. Only used it a couple of times and it has now sadly dried out but it was a beautiful iridescent semi translucent product that could be used on cheeks, eyes and more. Regret not using it more.

DHC Lip Cream*: a super nourishing lip balm that is non-tinted and unscented so ideal for even sensitive skin types. I love how it melts into the lips and deeply moisturises. If you need a lip product for every day or just for nights when you are using strong actives that can dry out the lips I would definitely recommend the DHC Lip Cream. Full review here

Nivea Cellular Phyto R Serum*: with 9% "caring complex + Phyto R" which uses Bidens Pilosa as a retinol alternative to help firm and even skin. It was a milky serum, quite moisturising thanks to the several oils in the formula, but the packaging lets it down as the pump was hard to use and would dispense nothing or too much, plus I was unable to get out the last bit of product from the bottom. It also suggests to use no more than 8 pumps a day (I didn't) which is a bit concerning so I'm unsure if I would use this again.

Sanex pH Balance Dermo Sensitive Anti Perspirant: one of my favourite deodorants as it's part of the very few that actually work for me. The roll on is a bit stiff but it is lightly fragranced, non-drying or irritating and super affordable so will always repurchase. I also like the aerosol version of this.

Vichy 48h Anti Perspirant Treatment

Vichy 48h Anti Perspirant Treatment

The Vichy 48h Anti Perspirant Treatment* is designed for intense perspiration and contains a very minimal and ethanol-free list of only 7 ingredients which makes it ideal for sensitive skin types as there is less chance of irritation.

The synthetic fragrance is quite inoffensive, unisex and doesn't linger or clash with other fragrances or perfumes.

The packaging is sturdy and well made. The cap fits nicely in place and the roll on glides easily under the axilla without needing to use a lot of pressure like with other roll-on deodorants I have used.

Before using it I didn't have much faith in its claims however I was pleasantly surprised to find that it controls perspiration much better than the other deodorant I was using (Dove aerosol, if you must know), and with that any possible odour as well. Only a small amount is needed to achieve full effect.

The best part is that it provides long lasting protection so don't need to worry if you shower at different times each day, as you will still be protected against perspiration for more than just one day.

Heimish Skincare for Oily Skin

Heimish Skincare for Oily Skin

@skincarestationery Heimish skincare haul ✨ These products are lightweight, fresh and perfect for summer 🌞 Use code NAV2019 for money off your next YesStyle order @heimish_cosmetics @YesStyle @YesStyleInfluencers #YS23MidYearFavs #skincarehaul #kbeauty #heimish #yesstylehaul #asmrhaul #oilyskincareroutine ♬ Storytelling - Adriel
A couple of weeks ago I was kindly sent some products from Heimish to test and review:

Matcha Biome Redness Relief Hydrating Toner: this Watery Essence has a pH of 5.5 and is designed for calming & hydrating the skin.

The main ingredient is Green Tea extract, a great anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory that can help reduce redness. It also contains Sugarcane Extract, a natural source of AHA that adds hydration while gently exfoliating the skin; plus soothing probiotics.

This Toner is beautifully lightweight with almost instant absorption, it makes my skin feel so hydrated and moisturised that I could skip using a separate moisturiser afterwards without any problem. My skin is soothed and redness appears reduced.

It has a prominent, classically 'masculine' herbal scent which I really enjoy and is provided by the several natural extracts and oils including Lavender and Bitter Orange. The dark green bottle and weighted golden cap give it a luxurious look.

It is a toner I would highly recommend if you have oily skin like me and I would purchase it in the future.

Matcha Biome Oil-Free/Calming Gel Moisturizer: this moisturiser is designed to calm, hydrate and balance the skin using Green Tea Extract, Glycerin, Niacinamide and Centella Asiatica plus probiotics.

It has a light gel consistency that absorbs very quickly into the skin without stickiness or residue, leaving a soft matte look and a velvety feel to the skin. It gently moisturises and helps reduce redness.

This Gel Moisturiser has a faint sweet, fruity scent that doesn't linger. I find that a small pea sized amount is enough to cover my whole face so it is very cost-effective.

It layers well under sunscreen while retaining its mattifying properties although I felt a slightly bigger amount of sunscreen was needed due to the velvety texture finish making it a bit harder to spread.

Marine Care Eye Cream: this product has Anti-Wrinkle & Brightening properties delivered by the use of several Marine Extracts, Niacinamide, Edelweiss, Peptides and Adenosine.

It also contains Macadamia Seed Oil and Shea Butter to nourish however, it never feels heavy no matter how much I use thanks to its whipped texture, making it great for oily skin. The eye area is left lightly moisturised but for dry skin this may not be enough.

I like the sturdy packaging and love the tool it comes with, which has a handy scoop on one side and a cooling metallic massager on the other side - it feels so relaxing to use and it is ideal to reduce puffiness, especially during allergy season.

This Eye Cream has a fresh, oceanic scent which I enjoy, it's easy to spread and to layer other products on top. It also seems to have helped increase eye lash density which is a great bonus. Would definitely have it again.

Tiam Snail & Azulene Calming Sandwich

Tiam Snail & Azulene Calming Sandwich

On the skincare menu today: the Tiam Calming Sandwich.

We can comfortably use active ingredients that may irritate the skin with peace of mind knowing that the Snail & Azulene range by Tiam will help prevent and soothe any irritation.

Start by using the Tiam Snail & Azulene Low pH Cleanser, to minimise skin irritation and dryness. With 7% Snail Secretion Filtrate and 50ppm Guaiazulene Sulfonate plus Allantoin and Panthenol.

This gentle cleanser has a gel-like consistency and lightly foams up to reveal clean, soft and supple skin that does not feel tight or dry. It is unscented so it's ideal for sensitive skin.

If using a leave on product like a serum, apply the Tiam Snail & Azulene Water Essence beforehand; if using a rinse-off product such as a mask, apply it afterwards. This Water Essence is designed to reduce skin sensitivity and redness thanks to 87% Snail Secretion Filtrate + 15ppm Guaiazulene Sulfonate.

This Essence also contains hydrating Beta Glucan and soothing Allantoin, Panthenol and Chamomile Flower Extract & Oil.

This Essence has a slightly viscous and stringy consistency so it can feel a bit slippery and tacky when applying but once absorbed such feeling disappears. I used it after The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution and it helped hydrate my skin while preventing any sensitivity. This Essence features a sweet, floral scent which I like.

Finish with the Tiam Snail & Azulene Sleeping Mask, also designed to reduce sensitivity and redness thanks to 81.5% Snail Secretion Filtrate and 80ppm Guaiazulene Sulfonate.

It nourishes with Sunflower Seed Oil, plumps with Hyaluronic acid and also soothes with Allantoin, Panthenol and Chamomile Flower Oil.

This generously sized jar contains 80 ml of product. The Mask itself is actually very lightweight (ideal for oily skin) and features a stringy consistency. It needs to be massaged into the skin to ensure it is absorbed however, it moisturises well and leaves my skin feeling soft. Like the Essence, it has a sweet floral scent which I enjoy.

I have noticed a reduction in my skin's redness when using these products and will continue to use them as I appreciate the soothing properties they have. The beautiful chamomile scent and cute packaging are lovely extras that I also adore.

If you are an avid user of active ingredients in your skincare routine and are looking for products to soothe after using them, or even just after spending a day out in the sun, then I would definitely recommend trying the Tiam Snail & Azulene range.

Nivea Irresistibly Smooth Body Lotion Shea Butter

Nivea Irresistibly Smooth Body Lotion Shea Butter

This Nivea Irresistibly Smooth Body Lotion Shea Butter is designed for dry skin and promises 48 hours of indulging moisture thanks to the inclusion of Shea Butter and Deep Moisture Serum.

It has a lightweight texture that absorbs easily into the skin and also dries quite fast without stickiness, leaving skin feeling soft and velvety.

It is scented with a mild fragrance that is not overpowering and dissipates within a few minutes which is great as it avoids it clashing with any perfumes applied afterwards.

I love that it comes in a handy pump bottle for easy dispensing and has a lock mechanism to avoid spillage.

Overall, it is a nice moisturising lotion which I will continue to use and would have again. I would also like to try other products in this range.
