Style Korean Plant Based Skincare

As part of Style Korean's Try Me Review Me program I received a set of plant based beauty products:

Melixir Vegan Balancing Toner: to balance pH and hydrate the skin thanks to Green Tea, which is rich in antioxidants. I like that it is microbiome friendly and has a lightweight texture. It absorbs easily into the skin and hydrates it. It has a mild black tea scent.

Dr. Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence: I've wanted to try this product for some time so was very excited to test it. It is formulated to refine and hydrate the skin with Kombucha (or fermented black tea), plus moisturising Ceramides and soothing Centella Extract. It has a light, milky texture that is easy to mix and it is fragrance free. Leaves my skin feeling moisturised and soft. Love the packaging.

Mary & May Vegan Peptide Bakuchiol Sun Stick: provides SPF 50++++ and has anti-ageing properties with 25 types of Peptides and 1% Bakuchiol. It has a velvety finish on the skin which gives it a semi matte look. It is a convenient way of reapplying sunscreen on the go. It is strongly fragranced with a floral scent but it fades after a while.

Frudia Green Grape Pore Control Cream: it uses 81% Green Grape Juice instead of water to hydrate the skin, control sebum and reduce enlarged pores. It also contains exfoliating Papain for a smooth complexion. It has a lightweight gel consistency that glides on the skin and absorbs quickly. My skin looks matte and pores look less noticeable instantly. It is non-sticky and it does hydrate and control oil as it promises. Love the cute jam-jar packaging. It is also heavily fragranced.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Lip Sorbet

Bourjois has kindly sent me a set of their new Healthy Mix Lip Sorbet Tinted Lip Balms which are an easy way to achieve all day hydration with a hint of tint, or an opaque finish if you prefer as they are buildable!

Infused with Castor & Coconut Oils, Shea Butter, plus Vitamins C and E, they leave my lips feeling super soft and moisturised.

My favourite lip combination is the Lip Sorbet in Peanude Butter with the Levres Contour Edition Lip Liner in Nude Wave.

I received the 100% Pure Fermented Rice Water Cleanser, formulated to brighten and soften the skin thanks to the enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and malic acid that fermented rice water contains.

Hello Sunday Haul

I received a set of products from Hello Sunday to test and review:

The Everyday One SPF 50 Face Moisturiser: with Sunflower Seed Wax, Panthenol, Allantoin, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Acacia Flower Wax.

It has a runny consistency but still feels very moisturising on the skin, so I do not need to use a separate product underneath. It does leave a very glowy finish which is not ideal if you have oily skin like me, however, it can be solved with a bit of face powder. I would love to try the Matte version!

The One For Your Lips SPF 50 Lip Balm: features Shea Butter and Hyaluronic Acid to nourish and hydrate while providing high UVA + UVB protection.

It has a medium thick texture and coats the lips nicely, forming a protective layer that leaves them feeling moisturised and comfortable, with a glossy finish. Definitely interested in trying the tinted versions too. It is hard to find lip balms with SPF, so this is a great option for summer!

The One For Your Hands SPF 30 Hand Cream: this one contains Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera, Panthenol, Allantoin and Vitamin E.

It features a light, whipped texture that absorbs completely into the skin quickly (I forgot I had it on about 10 minutes after application). It softens, moisturises and protects without any greasy feeling. SPF in hand creams is also a bit harder to come by so this will be my must have of the season!

Out of the 3 products I received, this is the only fragranced one - with notes of orange, florals and musk, for a warm, fruity and slightly sweet scent which I enjoy.

Other products I'd love to try from this brand are the Retouch Face Mist and Brightening Eye Cream.

A while ago I was selected as a Bubble Ambassador and my welcome gift was the Fresh Start Cleanser.

Iconic London Radiance Booster

Recently I received the Iconic London Radiance Booster in the shade Shell Glow to test out.

This tinted complexion enhancer contains smooth OleoGel and a glossy Luminizer Peptide to create a healthy, radiant finish on the skin. It can be used on its own or under foundation.

Notable ingredients include Soybean Glycerides, Shea Butter, Lentil Extract, Vitamin C, Tripeptide-3 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-10.

The product is easy to use, just shake, dispense and apply. It glides easily over the skin, leaving it moisturised, with a unifying wash of colour and a radiant glow.

I like how natural it looks on the skin once blended, however, as I have oily skin, it just makes me look very oily due to my texture and enlarged pores. I would love to see a mattifying version for oily skin as I really like the natural tint it gives.

I have been using the Watermelon Cucumber Water Locking Moisturizer from 100% PURE

It's made with watermelon hydrosol which provides vitamins and antioxidants, promotes hydration and reduces fine lines, and Cucumber hydrosol, which cools the skin and reduces irritation while hydrating the skin. It also uses hyaluronic acid for extra hydration.

This blend makes it very hydrating without feeling heavy or greasy so it's ideal for summer!

I love how light it feels on my skin, it absorbs quickly and leaves it hydrated, with a nice glow.

Tokyo Police Club at Trafalgar Square

It is Canada Day today, and to celebrate there was an event at Trafalgar Square in London yesterday.

The event was free, Tokyo Police Club were the the main act, and as it was their only concert date in the whole of Europe in their farewell tour, so I could not miss it!

They opened with Breakneck Speed and played lots of songs, including many of my favourites.

They played Favorite Color, New Blues, Nature Of The Experiment, Hands Reversed, Bambi, End Of A Spark, Argentina Part I, Wait Up (Boots of Danger), Tessellate, Simple Dude, Be Good, Hang Your Heart, Hot Tonight, Box.

For the encore they played Your English Is Good and Cheer It On (from what I remember)

Wish they played Citizens Of Tomorrow but they didn't - should have requested it when they asked on Instagram!

I wanted to record their whole show but I also wanted to dance and sing which pretty much spoils any footage if you try to do both so I had to find the right balance!

The band started their set early, before their allotted 7:20 starting time, and also came back for an encore of 2 more songs, which was amazing!

After the encore we left slowly and I saw Dave coming out the backstage area towards were I had just been (front row, under the stage). I called him and asked if I could have a picture, and he said "Yeah, yeah" but kept on walking so I was walking beside him for a few seconds until he said "I'll come back". I waited there for a moment until I realised where he had gone, so went back to meet him and I got my picture (well, 3).

There were a few people still standing near the front so it makes sense that he wanted to go and meet them before they all left.

I said to him "I was at the front" and he replied "I saw you", then I said I loved the show, can't remember what he replied, then Dot also said to him that he liked the show, and we left. Not sure if the rest of the band also came out afterwards but I'm so happy I had the chance to see them one last time and even got a picture with Dave. Posted some of these pictures on my stories and TPC liked one of them.

Hoping for a 20th anniversary reunion!🥺

Kaine Ultimate Cleansing Duo

Kaine kindly gifted me a set of their new cleansers in the Kombucha line to test and review!

I received the Kombu Jelly Oil Cleanser and the Kombu Hydrating Daily Cleanser, designed to be used together in a double cleanse system.

The Kombu Jelly Oil Cleanser features a tri-phase texture which starts off as Jelly, then turns into Oil as it is massaged in, and finally transforms into Milk when water is added.

Notable ingredients include Kaolin, Oils of Jojoba, Sunflower and Corn Germ, Kombucha. Centella Extract, and Ceramide NP.

The texture is quite lightweight despite containing several oils, and melts into the skin easily. After emulsifying with water, makeup is effectively removed without leaving my skin dry. I find it a bit hard to remove completely so a second cleanse is definitely needed.

The Kombu Hydrating Daily Cleanser uses ultra-gentle surfactants to avoid drying out the skin, making it suitable for daily usage.

It contains Camellia Leaf Powder, Allantoin, 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid, Kombucha and Ceramide NP.

This cleanser has a jelly texture with green tea flakes to gently exfoliate the skin. It lathers well and rinses off easily without causing dryness to my skin. Only a small amount is needed, otherwise it becomes slimy and hard to use.

Overall, a great duo for gentle cleansing and hydrated skin!
