With the colder weather it is important to switch up your everyday beauty products in order to protect your skin as well as lift your mood when it's dark and gloomy outside.

Face Cream: I have been using the Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti-Ageing Moisturiser* and I like that it is lightweight, absorbs fast and doesn't leave my skin looking shiny, but at the same time it protects it with SPF 15 and minimises the look of pores.

Lip Balm: A must for me at any time of the year, really is a tinted lip balm. This Burt's Bees Lip Shine in Smooch is great as it contains lots of nourishing oils and a hint of purple to add some colour to my lips while leaving them glossy too.

Perfume: Dot gave me this perfume 2 (nearly 3!) Christmases ago and it has barely gone down as you only need a tiny bit to smell gorgeous all day long. The YSL Black Opium perfume has notes of black coffee, white florals and vanilla and smells very sweet but I absolutely love it.

Hand Cream: Something that I always keep in my hand bag as you never know when the skin on your hands might feel a bit dry and tight. The L'occitane Shea Butter Rose Heart Hand Cream came free with a magazine, but L'occitane hand creams are amazing - nourishing and non greasy, plus this one smells amazing!

Facial Oil: Started getting into oils around the end of last year, and after researching a bit about oils (not all of them are the same) I discovered Sukin Organic Rosehip Oil, which my skin loves - it's not greasy but it is so moisturising and leaves my skin baby soft.

Jewellery: I've always been very minimal with my jewellery and the only thing I constantly wore were earrings, until I got married - I love my delicate engagement and wedding rings. Trying to incorporate a bit more accessories into my looks and sometimes I'll add a necklace but I'm on the lookout for a good quality one to complement my look.

Room fragrance: Who doesn't love a bit of room fragrance? Diffusers, room sprays, incense and candles - all great ways to make your space more cosy and give it a personal touch. I won this Jan Constantine Peace candle on a giveaway and haven't burnt it yet but just by having it in the room it fills it up with its geranium scent.

I know this post is a bit more focused on facial skincare than overall body skincare, but I'd like to write a post about body skincare routine soon.

What are your winter beauty essentials?
