Relove Revolution x Superdrug

Relove Revolution x Superdrug

A few months ago I received a PR package kindly sent to me by Revolution & Superdrug. Revolution Relove is a super affordable makeup range (everything is under £5) that recently launched in Superdrug. In the package I received:

Baby Gloss in Dream

It is a lip gloss form the new Revolution ReLOVE range, which is available in 8 shades.

The Dream shade is a clear gloss which can be worn on its own or be used to add a shiny finish to any other lip product.

The packaging is very cute and compact. Featuring a clear tube with a white cap and a classic velvety doe foot applicator. The cap comes off and is replaced easily as well.

The clear design gives off the impression of the tube being glass, however, it is plastic which means it is very lightweight, so great for traveling or keeping in your bag for touch ups when out and about.

It comes completely sealed in wrapping that is easy to remove. I appreciate this a lot as it ensures the product is new and hygienic to use. Sadly the ingredients label is attached to this wrapper and not on the actual product so you have to keep it somewhere safe if you, like me, desire to keep this information handy for future reference.

The PAO is 6 months which is a bit shorter than other lip glosses I have used. However, being a product that is so versatile and colourless, it can be reapplied multiple times during the day so it is a reasonable amount of time to use it up.

The Baby Gloss in Dream contains soothing and antioxidant Vitamin E, plus Hyaluronic Acid to help achieve an instant plumping effect.

Worn on its own it helps bring out the natural colour of my lips, which I like. It features a delicate, sweet vanilla fragrance and it's non sticky.

It is also very affordable at only £2.50 and I am very interested in trying out the other shades!

Long Lash Lengthening Mascara

This mascara comes in an oversized plastic tube packaging, which is lightweight but feels sturdy. I really like the pale pink shade throughout the tube, and how it features contrasting black font with all of the product information on the front and back,

The lid is easy to unlock lid clicks safely in place.

The brush has relatively small bristles and a slight hourglass shape. The dainty size allows it to get close into lash line when applying the product.

The Long Lash Lengthening Mascara separates lashes, holds a curl and lengthens nicely.

I don't usually wear mascara but this one looks quite natural, which I really like.

It lasted very well throughout several hours of wear, with only some minimal flaking and smudging (which I expected as I my skin can get oily after a while).

Also appreciate that it comes sealed for hygiene and that the ingredients are printed on the actual tube as it is so spacious.

The PAO is 12 months, which is longer than usual for mascaras. It is 7ml and so affordable at only £2.50.

I would definitely recommend this mascara if you are are on a budget and looking to achieve subtle lash definition and lengthening without any clumping.

Power Brow in Brown & Dark Brown

This eyebrow pencil comes in a slender glossy cardboard box with ingredients and further information on the back and side.

Also depicted on the box are a picture of the pencil inside, as well as a brush and pencil detail. There is an internal tab in the box to avoid product rattling around.

The pencil itself is quite wide, features an angled tip and is dispensed by a twist up motion. On the opposite end there is a brush. Both caps click in place securely.

The formula contains Vitamin E and several Oils and Waxes to fix the brows in place.

I tried both the Brown and Dark Brown shades.

The pencil needs a bit warming up before it starts to deliver pigment visibly on the skin. After that I had no issues with application. The wide stick allows to cover a large area and is easy to use.

The shade Brown gave me a natural look, and while the Dark Brown was a very similar hue, it was more intensely pigmented so ideal for a bolder look.

The brush (or "fluffy comb") is very soft but dense so it is gentle on the skin but effectively combs through the brows.

The Power Brow is designed to create bold, bushy brows, which is easy thanks to the pigmentation of the pencil, however, it is also possible to achieve a natural look by using the product lightly.

This eyeshadow pencil has a 12 month PAO and is only £2 for 0.3 g.

The product is amazing quality for the price, and I would definitely recommend trying it out.

H2O Hydrate Primer

It comes in a sturdy frosted glass bottle that greatly elevates the product and gives it a more expensive feel. It also features a handy pump to easily dispense the product, said pump is protected by a clear cap. The cap is joined to the glass bottle with a sticker seal, which I appreciate.

Love the pastel colour scheme of the tag. On the back it contains all of the relevant product information including ingredients and PAO (which is 12 months).

Notable ingredients in the H2O Hydrate Primer include: Glycerin, Rosa Rugosa Flower Water, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate and Tocopherol.

I really like the pump mechanism as it dispenses enough product for the whole face in one full press.

The primer has a slightly viscous jelly texture, so it won't run down your hand or face as you apply it. It feels very fresh and hydrating when worked into the skin.

Even though I waited at least 15 minutes after applying my day cream, it seemed like it was wiping it off as I applied the primer, which was not ideal. It also has a scent that was reminiscent of medicine and personally didn't love. Thankfully the smell doesn't linger.

I don't own any foundations so I tested it with my Dr Jart Cicapair Colour Correcting Cream, which applied smoothly over the primer.

I may end up using it as a cooling, hydrating serum instead; however, as a makeup base I believe it would also do a great job and it is very affordable at £4 for 12ml.

Colour Play Shadow Palettes

They come in a compact and lightweight plastic packaging with a white backing and features a clear cover, which means you can see the shades before purchasing which is great.

On the front it also features the palette name so it is easy to identify.

The sturdy packaging is easy to open and lock shut securely.

The Revolution Relove Shadow Palettes contain 6 individual shades, 2 of which are bigger and placed on the top row. They are also lightly scented like the primer, with a sweet but slightly medicinal aroma which is imperceptible once applied.

The Empower palette is comprised of pink and neutral shades:
A nude matte which can be used as a base or to mattify the eyelid, a pinkish red with glitter, a very pigmented matte brick red, a medium pink, a soft matte brown (my favourite from this palette) and a pale pink with shimmer.

The Express palette contains more shimmer than the Empower palette and features bolder browns and greens

On the top there are a shimmery champagne beige (my favourite from this palette) and a gold glittery shade, on the bottom there are 2 dark browns in both shimmer and matte, and 2 dark teal shades also in shimmer and matte.

All of the shades are well pigmented, however some more so than others. It is mentioned on the back that some shades are pressed pigments and not meant to be used on the eyes, so they could be used for blusher.

On the Empower Palette, the pigments are shades 3, 4 and 6; and on the Express palette, the pigments are 3 and 5.

The shadows are easy to apply and blend and the colours within the palettes work well together.

They are also very easy to remove using micellar water, and they have a 12 month PAO.

The Revolution Relove shadow palettes are amazing value for money at only £3 each so I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to expand their makeup collection on a budget.
